A man who entered a house in St Ninians and stole a mobile phone and two bank cards – while the homeowner was in the house – has appeared in court.

Cameron David Longridge (33) committed the offence at an address on Mayfield Street on April 13.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard last Wednesday that the 66 year-old resident became aware of the theft at around 8pm.

The homeowner became aware of a breeze and after getting up to investigate, found that a door which leads from the kitchen out into the garden, which had previously been closed, was found open.

The homeowner then noticed that a mobile phone and two bank cards which were kept inside the phone case were missing, and police were contacted.

The next day Longridge was taken into custody in relation to a different matter and at this point he was found with the phone and bank cards.

Before deferring sentence to next month, Sheriff Wyllie Robertson said: “This is technically not a housebreaking but it is as good as in this case.”

The accused, whose address was given as Bannockburn Road, Stirling, was also appearing in court last week in connection of an incident on Gogar Road, Stirling, between April 12 and 13.

On this occasion he entered an insecure motor vehicle and stole a mobile phone, a quantity of money, keys, a sat nav and two bags.

This case was continued and sentence deferred until July 25 to await the outcome of other matters.
