Lisa is taking on the world

Denny High pupil’s Scotland skip

- Donald Morton

Denny High School pupil Lisa Davie is making her way in the world of curling.

The S6 pupil skips a team which represents Scotland at Under 17 and Under 21 levels with her ultimate goal of one day being in Team GB at a Winter Olympics.

Throughout last season’s Under 17 tournament, Team Davie consisting of skip Lisa, Emma and Kirsty Barr and Annabelle Skuse played in five events at Locherbie, Forfar, Perth, Greenacres and Hamilton to clinch the title. Lisa also won this title two years ago with her current Under 21 team.

The older rink have been together for four years and during the past season they played in four Scottish events, managing to gain a place on the podium at all four including wins at Greenacres and Inverness.

Team Davie also won the Scottish Ladies Under 21 Asham Slam and as a result of winning at Greenacres in September 2017, they were invited to represent Scotland as the Under 21 girls team at one of the Nordic Curling Tour competitions in Copenhagen last November.

They were delighted to reach the final before narrowly missing out on the first place after an extra end.

The team also took part in an EJCT (European Junior Curling Tour) event at Braehead in Glasgow to gain experience on the European Tour circuit, finishing third.

Lisa, who trains at the National Curling Academy at The PEAK, would like to thank Team Davie coach Andrew Barr and Alan Steel Management for their generous sponsorship as well as Denny High School, who have authorised time away for competitions.
