Having eventually managed to negotiate the 18th in par, the scratch honours went to course manager Wesley Saunders with a level par 69 including birdies at 3, 4, 6 and 13.

With a return to form, Duncan Morrison (7) won the First Class on 66 with birdies at 2 and 14. Runner-up, having played on Friday, was Tommy Green (6) on 67 and a better last six (bl6) than Peter Bell (8).

Three players then returned 68 but fourth place went to Malcolm Scott (5) with a bl6 than Tony Stanger (11) who had a better inward half (bih) than Colin Thomson (11).

Second Class was won by Sandy McRorie (14) on 66 with a birdie three at 15. There were then three players on 67 but second spot went to Iain Sneddon (13) with bl6 than Norman Rodger (15) who had a bih than Gordon Foster (12).

In the Third Class, Lloyd Hardman (27) had his first success since joining the club with a 65 and bih than Darrel Jones (19). Third place went to Hal Mills (18) on 68 and bl6, including a birdie three at 13, than Philip Castle (17).

The monthly midweek medal is today (Wednesday) and this weekend club championsh­ip qualifying rounds are on Saturday and Sunday with the matchplay stages next week and Finals Day on Saturday, June 16.

Friday and Saturday saw 227 players compete in the June Medal and seniors and handicap Club Championsh­ip first round qualifier with the top eight scratch aggregate scores qualifying for the Seniors Matchplay and top eight best aggregate net handicap scores qualify for the Handicap Matchplay Championsh­ip.

Twenty-four players finished on 69 or better, the best scoring day of the season to date.

The ever-improving Jay McEwan returned a best net of the day 64 to win Division 3, Alan Skilling was only one shot behind with a net 65 to win Division 2 and Ian Mailer a further shot back on net 66 to win Division 2.

Jay returned halfs of 39 and 41 with a birdie at the 4th, Alan Skilling played the difficult middle section (holes 7-12) in an impressive one under par with birdies at the 10th and 12th in halfs of 40 and 39 and Ian Mailer was three over par after nine holes but played the inward nine in two under par with birdies at the 11th and 18th holes.

Alan Dryden and Stewart McLellan returned the best scratch score of the weekend both on two under par 70.

Open Mixed Greensomes Salver (Sunday, June 3): Trevor Boyd continued his rich vein of form with partner Muriel Young (both Stirling) to win the salver with an impressive score of net 65.8.

Leslie and Elspeth Goodfellow (both Stirling) were runners up on net 67.2; Ian Muir (Stirling) and Rhona Muir (Callander) were third on net 68.4 and fourth place went to Adam Haydock (Deer Park) and Tammy Haydock (Bathgate) on net 70.2.

The winning scratch score was onehandica­pper Alister Scott (Lanark) and Megan Brown (Dunfermlin­e), who plays off six, on level par 72.

This weekend players in compete in the Seniors and Handicap Championsh­ip second round qualifier and The Victory Cup Strokeplay, defended by Tom Dow.

The Club Championsh­ip Strokeplay and 36-hole qualifier is on Saturday, June 16, Entry fee of £15 must be paid no later than Saturday, June 9. See notice in locker room for further details.
