Forth Valley success for the juniors

Central AC’s junior team competed in the second match of the Forth Valley League at Craigswood Sports Stadium, Livingston in a busy meeting with three divisions and 21 teams on show,

The club’s strength in depth shows in the fact they can field two teams - one in Division One and another in Division Three.

Central’s Division One team put up a strong fight against some great opposition. Robb Ferguson started the event with a great run in the 75m hurdles in a personal best time of 13.50 and Connor Bell looked strong in the 1500m finishing in first place with a time of 4:55.30.

Magnus Bryce was second in the 200m in 30.60, attaining the club’s silver standard. Niamh McKinlay achieved bronze standard in the under 11 girls 600m with a great time of 2:02.20, another PB.

Jack Sutton threw a PB 5.02m in the under 11 boys shot putt whilst Catriona Kane finished second in the under 13 girls javelin with another PB of 10.74m. High jump saw Euan Wilbert clear 1.45m (PB) and Scott Hopper 1.50m in the Under 15s.

The Division Three team sit in second place with promotion into Division Two still within reach.

In the under 11 boys Lewis Miller (14.60) and Tyler Gibson (16.10) won their 100m races. The under 15 boys also took top spots in the 100m through Jamie McNaught (12.90) and Adam McGregor (13.70) and the under 11 boys and under 13 girls continued the winning streak with Ray Taylor (2:04.10) and Douglas Stewart (2:10.50) finishing first in the boys 600m and Carys Gibb (5:21.70) and Mary Kealey (6:04.70) in the girls 1500m.

Central excelled in the field events taking first and second place in 13 out of 16 heats across the age groups. The under 15 boys and girls took on the high jump with Louise Carroll (1.35m), Megan Dunlop (1.15), Jamie McNaught (1.53) and Harris Milne (1.30). The under 13 boys and girls in the long jump were Dylan McCulloch (3.46m), Michael Arestis (3.01), Danielle Abel (3.45) and Emily Guest (3.19).
