Gary is on top form to lift third singles title
Gary Malcolmson scooped his third Central singles success at the Causewayhead green with a 21-12 win over Bannockburn’s Stevie Hamill.
A winner in 2011 and 2012 ,the Polmaise bowler struck top form once more over 25 hard fought ends to take the title.
In the pairs Denny’s Jim O’Raw and Graeme Hyslop won 19-13 over Dunblane’s Kevin Monaghan and David Strachan while the triples title was won by Jamie McKenna, James Wray and Paul Monteith (Doune Castle) with a 23-6 victory over Spittalmyre’s Donald Woolhead, Tom Millar and John Phimister.
The fours final saw Spittalmyre’s Robert Kiakowski, Charlie Gibson, George Young and Fraser Gray triumph 18-10 over Cambusbarron’s Keiran Whitton, David Ferguson, Stevie Whitton and David Ferguson jun.
The senior fours rink of Roger Goodman, Lawrence Begg, John Binnie and Danny McCormick (Polmaise) won 17-5 over Borestone’s John Crombie, John McLean, Brian McLaughlin and Willie Glen.
Calum Musik (Cambusbarron) took the junior singles title with a 21-13 win over Airthrey Spa’Aaron Furzer. Hamilton Trophy Stirling County West suffered a further setback to their Hamilton Trophy qualification hopes last Saturday – losing by four shots to Renfrewshire West.
The result, following last week’s defeat, leaves County in mid-table position and now, with just three matches remaining, they cannot afford any further slip ups.
Saturday’s match at the Gourock Park green saw County trail by five shots after five ends and by six at the halfway stage.
With 15 ends completed County had established an 80-74 lead, but sadly they failed to hold on over the final stages. County West had three winning rinks. David Ferguson won 26-11 against Stephen Fisher; Gary Malcomson beat John Fleming 20-15 while Jason Williams finished 24-12 ahead of Sandy Wotherspoon. Danny McCormick lost 25-13 to Jonathon Ross; Dougie Kerr went down 25-15 to Andy McLean while Sandy Deans lost 25-11 to David Horne.
