Seven decades on
An exhibition celebrating seven decades of work from Stirling-based visual artist Peter Russell is running this weekend.
The event, entitled The 1948 Show, will take place at the Mediterranea restaurant and cultural hub on Sunday at 2pm.
Artwork will be on-display to represent each decade – from a defaced copy of the 1953 edition of Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland for the first ten years to a reconstructed piece depicting the Statue of Liberty for the seventh decade.
Mr Russell is trained in drawing and painting, and that is his core activity, although he says that installation, sculpture, assemblage, collage, printmaking and photography have all featured in his mixed media approach.
He says that artists such as Paul Klee and Kurt Schwitters are among his key influences.
There will be music from Americana outfit Rail Fan during the event this weekend.
