Art News Mrs McMenemy picked up the St Modan’s entries for the Tesco Competition from the National Galleries on Saturday and there were five entries shortlisted. There were more than 8000 entries and the five who just missed out on being in the final 10 in Category D (Energy) were: Emilia Falcone S1 (Power); Karol Akasamit S1 (Plane Energy); Joshua Adamson S1 (Energy Drinks); Alyssa Buonaccorsi S1 (Pylons) and Kerry White S1 (Energy in Nature). Kelvingrove Museum Art Competition Winners this year include: Caitlyn Battley S4 (gold); Gracie Kelly S2 (bronze) - both pupils have been invited to the prize-giving on September 26 at the museum; Mique Burgoyne S4 (highly commended); Adrian Buxel S3 and Amber Morrison S4 (commended). UCAS Georgina from Robert Gordon University delivered an interesting and informative session to some of the St Modan’s S6 UCAS applicants last Friday. Just Breathe A team of S4-S6 pupils represented the school at the Just Breathe event at the Tolbooth last Friday, looking for ways to better promote young people’s mental health and wellbeing. S5 and S6 Conferences S5: New S5 pupils returned to school following the SQA exam diet and completion of work experience last week. The focus of the S5 conference was to prepare emotionally, mentally and spiritually for the challenges of next session. Pupils enjoyed a reflection and numerous workshops supported by key partner Live n Learn. Perhaps the highlight of a busy day were the team building activities organised by the PE department. Rosneath took the honours in the house points followed by Ardchattan followed by Kilmodan. S6: Excellent induction day for the new S6 pupils. Thinking about leadership, legacy and working together to improve our school community. At the end of the day they were awarded their gold ties during a beautiful service led by Fr Andrew.
