Enjoy beer, bangers and tunes at the Brewhouse

- Allanwater Brewhouse

Live music, fantastic food and a selection of quirky beers and ciders will be at the Allanwater Brewhouse for the return of a special event next weekend.

The venue’s owner Douglas Ross has vowed that the fifth annual Beer, Cider and Banger Festival will be one of the hits of the summer. Admission to the event, which kicks off on Friday, June 22, and runs until Sunday, June 24, is free. Popular musician Luke Ivans will provide some live, acoustic entertainment to pub-goers as they tuck in to some of the treats on offer. There will be more than a dozen craft, keg beers and a selection of flavoured ciders – including one Mr Ross can’t wait for crowds to sample.

He said: “We are really looking forward to the return of one of our most popular annual fests and the mix of beer, cider, fantastic bangers and great music makes it easy to understand why it’s always been a big hit.

“Admission is free and on sale will be 16 amazing cask conditioned and craft keg beers, and a selection of six fruit ciders including the return of our Sangria cider.

“Of course beer and cider can make people hungry and that is where the selection of over-stuffed beer flavoured sausages from our local butcher here in Bridge of Allan, John Cullens Family Butchers, comes into its own.

“Personally speaking my favourite banger is the beetroot and black pepper sausage. It makes your mouth burst with flavour and has a delayed aftertaste that kicks like a mule.

“These beauties will be served in a toasted bun smothered with our secret recipe caramelised beer onions.”

Musician Luke Ivans is well known to those who frequent The Brewhouse – even earning him the nickname ‘The Jukebox’ – and his acoustic sounds will provide the accompaniment across the Friday and Saturday dates.

Douglas, who has been brewing and pouring at the Bridge of Allan venue since 1996, believes those in attendance will lap up the live music.

He added: “Luke is just a fantastically talented performer and his version of the Dougie McLean classic Caledonia is one that really tugs the heartstrings.”

The Allanwater Brewhouse, on Queen’s lane, will be open for the event on the Friday and Saturday from noon through to midnight and on the Sunday from noon until 6pm.
