Stirling County West bowlers slumped to another Hamilton Trophy defeat on Saturday.
At the Balfron green, West struggled to shake off local rivals Clackmannan and Kinross and finished 19 shots adrift.
The result, their third defeat, almost certainly snuffed out any lingering hopes of qualification with just two matches remaining.
Saturday’s encounter at Balfron saw County finish with just two winning rinks.Gary Malcolmson won 23-11 against Colin Craig, while Sandy Deans carded a 23-16 victory over Gary Craig.
Jason Williams lost 23-10 to Jim Flanagan; Dougie Kerr went down 21-14 to Neil Dewar; Pat Martin lost 25-9 to Colin Drummond, while David Ferguson, despite carding an eight on the 15th end, lost 22-10 to Robert Hunter. Totals: Stirling County West 99, Clackmannan and Kinross 118.
In their penultimate match on Saturday County West take on Lanarkshire at Dunblane. League With just one more series of matches remaining seven clubs are still in with a chance of semi-final qualification.
In Wallace section Borestone (14pts), Spittalmyre (12pts) and Bannockburn (8pts) are in contention, while in Bruce section Polmaise (14pts) along with Causewayhead, Doune Castle and Bridge of Allan (all with 10pts) are in the frame.

Scottish Ladies The first qualifiers for the national championships at Ayr emerged last weekend following the District Nine ladies finals.
Bridge of Allan’s Jean Fisher won the singles with a 21-4 win over Spittalmyre’s June Dowall and in the pairs Dorothy Millar and Margaret Reid won 18-16 over Bridge of Allan’s Linda McKenzie and Lauren Forgie.
Triples winners were Tulliallan’s Christina Kettles, Isobel Dodds and Emma Simpson with a 15-14 victory over Pauline Thomson, Mary Miller and Margaret Russell (Alloa East End).
In the fours Jackie Keir, Morag Walsh, Gillian Kirk and Marion McFarlane (Alloa East End) finished 18-11 ahead of Alloa’s Evelyn Hubbock, Jean McEwan, Janette Hunter and Jean Deacon.
Senior singles winner was Maud McGowan (Doune Castle) with a 21-8 win over Morag Grandison (Alloa), while junior singles winner was Lauren Forgie (Bridge of Allan) with 21-4 scoreline against Rebecca Weir (Alloa).
In the senior fours it was Orwell’s Jeannie Jackson, Maz Thorn, Sandra Fullerton and Jean Menzies who won 16-5 against Cambusbarron’s Noreen Nellies, Elizabeth Ferguson, Rosemary Horsburgh and Sandra Gilmour.
