It was business as usual for Stirling Tennis Club’s men’s first team when they continued their winning run with a comfortable 9-3 home victory against Kippen 2.

The team’s top pairing of Rob Ainsley and George Machray won all four of their sets providing the base that the other two pairings of Cameron Livingston and Ross Laing (three sets) and Stuart Law and Chris Speirs ( two sets) were able to build upon.

The team remain in the only promotion position at the top of Division 2 with two crucial matches to come

against their nearest rivals - Falkirk 2 and Kippen 1.

It was not so comfortable for an again weakened men’s second team during their 7-5 victory away to bottom club Inchyra 2 in Grangemouth. Top pairing of Ian Carmichael and Alan Ward critically managed to win three of their sets to help edge the match.

Captain Duncan Scott said afterwards:“It was too tight for comfort and we remain in second bottom and relegation position.”

Stirling men’s thirds had no match last week and the Stirling Ladies travelled to meet top the table Linlithgow 2, giving a good account of themselves despite going down 8-4. Especially impressive was the performance of top pairing Janet Brown and Fiona Horn who won three of the Stirling points.
