Second visit caused arrest

- Court reporter

A Stirling man threatened to assault police officers who went to his house after noise complaints.

Jack Ferry, of Polmaise Avenue, who appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court last Wednesday, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting aggressively and making threats.

Not guilty pleas to charges of struggling with police officers and assaulting police were accepted by the Crown.

On March 31 this year, police received a call concerning excessive noice and went to Ferry’s address, where they could hear loud music.

Ferry (20) was spoken but refused police entry in to the property.

Police left the location, but were called back a short time later.

On the second visit, officers noted that Ferry was hostile and began shouting and swearing at the police and was arrested.

He was placed in to a police vehicle and was to be taken to Falkirk police office.

Whilst in the car he shouted: “When you open this door I’ll smash your teeth in” and then wished cancer on the officers.

Ken Dalling defending said: “He did open the door and he did not smash their teeth in.

“He accepts that his behaviour is not what it should have been. He could have taken a different course that night.

“The behaviour that he displayed in the police van was unpleasant. He shouldn’t have said these things.

“His threats were found to be hollow threats.”

Sheriff William Gilchrist noted how Ferry has a record that involves committing similar offences with the police.

Ferry was placed under supervision for a year and ordered to undertake 75 hours of unpaid work within six months.
