Another heavy defeat on Saturday summed up Stirling County West’s miserable Hamilton Trophy season.

A 64-shot thumping by Ayrshire North at the Townholm green, their fifth straight defeat, saw them finish their season second bottom of the West section.

Only one winning rink emerged on Saturday with Dougie Kerr’s four scoring a 25-13 win over Callum Williamson.

Jason Williams lost 24-19 to M Williamson; Gary Malcolmson lost 30-15 to Jack Montgomeri­e while Sandy Deans went down 26-13 to Jim Hume.

Elsewhere, Kenny Murdoch lost 37-12 to C Wilson; while David Ferguson lost 27-9 to Drew Boyd. Totals: Stirling County West 93, Ayrshire North 157. SCOTTISH District Nine players earned their tickets for next month’s national finals at Ayr Northfield.

At Stirling on Wednesday Donald Dawson (Dunblane) won the senior singles with a 21-17 victory over Dollar’s Ian Inglis.

In the senior fours Henry Murray, Sandy Watson, Andy Noblett and George Stirling (Alloa Co-op) qualified with a 17-5 win over Polmaise four Jim Walker, Peter Smith, Peter Black and Danny McCormick.

The Alloa club hosted four more finals on Friday when Livilands John Bryson survived a tough test to win 21-18 over Robert Japp (Cambus and District).

The pairs final saw Scott Craig and Billy Guy (Bridge of Allan) race to a superb 24-4 victory over Alloa’s David Craig and Kris Storf with several ends to spare.

Triples victory went to Alloa East End’s Peter Kirk, Chris Duncan and Joe Dawson who carded a 16-9 scoreline against Borestone’s John Barrie, Willie Harrower and James Sanfield.

The Alva Club supplied the fours winners.

Gavin Morrison, Brian Rattray, Alan Morrison and Neil Dewar won 19-12 over Polmaise’s Alex McNeill, John Binnie, Peter Black and Sandy Deans.

The mixed pairs and junior single finals were being played last night (Tuesday). PULLAR TROPHY Winners of the Pullar Trophy were Bannockbur­n BC. In last Saturday’s Central Associatio­n tournament Bannockbur­n amassed a total of seven points and seven shots.

Runners up were Doune Castle with six points and 18 shots. LEAGUE In the Stirling District League semi-finals on Friday Borestone will play Causewayhe­ad while Polmaise play Spittalmyr­e. The matches go ahead at Polmiase green.
