Raploch children make some Big Noise in the park

The Raploch community enjoyed a fantastic day out at Big Noise Fun Day last Tuesday.

Hundreds of families gathered in Ochil Park to enjoy top performanc­es from children and staff during the fun festivitie­s.

Big Noise Staff Band opened the day’s activities followed by performanc­es from the children’s wind, string and brass ensembles and the Noise Choir, made up of adults who work or live in the community.

The programme culminated in a sensationa­l performanc­e from the Big Noise Raploch Symphony Orchestra.

While crowds enjoyed a barbecue, they were treated to entertainm­ent from the Big Noise Big Band and Kay Klass Dance. There was also a bouncy castle, face painting, football fun from Raploch Hearts and a cake to celebrate the 10th birthday of Sistema Scotland and Big Noise.

Peter Nicholson, Big Noise Raploch team leader, said:“The fun day was a huge success and we had a fantastic turnout from the community who provide such a massive support for Big Noise Raploch.”

Meanwhile, Big Noise are organising a Stirlingwi­de summer holiday club which will be a free event open to young people aged six to 18 years from across Stirling and Clackmanna­nshire who play orchestral instrument­s .

It is to be held at the Raploch Community Campus from Monday July 9 to Thursday July 12, 9.30am-12.30pm each day.

Members of the Scottish traditiona­l super group Blazin’Fiddles will work with all string players during the morning sessions, with a particular focus on learning tunes by ear (no previous experience of this is required).

David Munn, Big Noise Raploch senior musician, said:“This is a fantastic opportunit­y for young musicians to work with some of Scotland’s finest traditiona­l musicians. I can’t wait to hear the result which we will share with all of the families at a concert on the Thursday morning of the week.”

The club is now in its fourth year and has proved to be a big hit with Stirling children and young people and also those who travel from rural areas to take part in the musical activities.
