Forces gather in the sun
Great spectacle
Bright sunshine made this year’s Stirling Armed Forces day one to remember.
King’s Park was the location for the annual event which featured military parades, musical entertainment and family fun.
Among the attractions were miltary bands and vehicles as well as a group dressed up in 1940s style uniforms.
One of the highlights was a spectacular display by the Parachute Regiment’s Red Devils who dropped in on proceedings.
The 6&7 Scots band joined with the Pipes and Drums 7 Scots and the Royald Marines Band.
Star Wars enthusiasts the UK Garrison Storm Troopers also added a dash of colour to the occasion.
And there was also a nod to times past with an appearance from the 1940s inspired dance troupe the Kennedy Cupcakes.
Stirling Provost Christine Simpson said: “It was an absolute pleasure to attend Stirling’s Armed Forces Day celebrations.
“The spectacular sight of the Red Devils parachute team throwing themselves out of a plane and then landing in front of the Kings Park crowd gave everyone an extraordinary glimpse of the bravery and skill of our servicemen and women.
“It was great to see families really enjoying all the fabulous entertainment on the day and the organisers deserve enormous credit.
“The wonderful weather was just the icing on the cake.”
Stirling MP Stephen Kerr, who attended the event, said: “It was a wonderful day and a very well organised one.
“I would like to thank the Provost for hosting the event and everyone involved in helping the day run so smoothly.
“It was a privilege to meet so many forces personnel, veterans and people who do such great work in supporting them.”
