Water way to enjoy the weather
Sunseekers were in heaven last week as Stirling, along with the rest of the country, basked in glorious sunshine and sweltering temperatures.
The mercury reached 32.3 Centigrade in Stirling on Thursday, the highest ever recorded by Stirling Weather who have been monitoring the area since 2009.
However, some people with ordinary thermometers and less sophisticated equipment saw the temperature around noon on Thursday rise to between 38 and 39 degrees Centigrade.
Temperatures also touched the high 20s on Wednesday and Friday.
Scott McLean, who runs Stirling Weather, said:“The highest all time recorded temperature in Scotland is 32.9 Celsius, set in the Scottish Borders in 2003.
“An area of high pressure centred over Scotland on Thursday with light winds meant the temperature soared to a record high. High pressure has been close to Scotland for the past week blocking the westerly Atlantic low fronts from approaching Scotland.
“The temperature was expected to peak on Thursday. As we enter the first 7 to 10 days of July it’s expected to remain mostly dry, with fairly settled weather and high temperatures still around the low to mid 20s.”
Residents across Stirling area made the most of the summer weather.
Youngsters raced home from school to enjoy the conditions with many taking a dip to cool off, enjoying nice, cool treats and hiding in the shade.
King’s Park was full of people taking advantage of the warm weather and Observer readers also sent us their photos of how they were spending the sunny days.
Jenson Donald (6) whizzed around the park on his quad bike while brothers Andrew (9) and Ewan (7) Mathers joined their dad, Dougie, in taking a dive at Laighills, Dunblane.
