Talent show duo bring Les Musicals to town

- Staff reporter

Two former X-Factor stars have joined forces for a new show which is billed as the “ultimate celebration of musical theatre”.

And while ‘Les Musicals: Live Concert Tour’ might not be visiting Stirling until next summer time – tickets are already on sale and selling fast.

It has been announced that the production, which is led by Jonathan Ansell, previously of G4, and Rhydian Roberts, will stop off at the Albert Halls next year for a dramatic and spine-tingling concert.

Promoters say there will be a host of songs from some of the greatest musicals of all time – brought to audiences by two of the finest voices in the world.

Included in the show will be classics from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Blood Brothers, Wicked, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, We Will Rock You and more.

Both performers will be familiar faces, and voices, to fans of Saturday night reality TV.

Ansell rose to fame in 2004 after finishing second on the ITV talent show the X Factor with his group G4 – a pop-opera boyband.

They went on to sell three albums – selling more than 1.5 million copies in the process – and embarked on five sell-out UK tours.

He also embarked on a successful solo career with a number of high-profile television and musical theatre performances.

Rhydian also launched a career after an appearance on the hit Saturday night TV show.

His debut album sold 600,000 copies in 2008, becoming one of the highest-selling records of the year by a male newcomer.

He toured the UK three times – in 2008, 2013 and 2014/15 – in addition to appearing in stage shows We Will Rock You, Grease, Rocky Horror Show and Aladdin.

The Les Musicals tour is set to take in a number of venues throughout the country in 2019, having sold out scores of shows already this year.

It will visit the Albert Halls on Wednesday, June 5, and tickets are available online only. They are priced at £24 and £56.50 for VIP. Visit culturestirling.org for more.
