Try out Walking Netball

-

Active Stirling’s Walking Netball sessions at The PEAK is looking for more people to join in.

Introduced at the beginning of the year, Walking Netball is a slower version of the regular game ideal for all ages and abilities.

Due to it being low intensity, the class attracts a mixture of participants – from people who have had hip/knee replacements or lung disorders to those wanting to increase their physical activity.

Participant Julie Johnstone from South Alloa decided to come to walking netball to boost her fitness and confidence. She said:“I played netball for a long time during childhood and at school, but unfortunately didn’t keep playing after school. Now as an adult and mum of two children, it has been really difficult to do any sport or physical activity of any kind.

“This class has helped me to gain confidence again, improve fitness, fall in love with netball all over again, but most importantly helped me make wonderful friends.”

Ruth Henderson, Active Stirling Sports Development Officer, said:“Since the walking netball session launched at the start of the year, our participants have been on a massive journey. Not only have they gained confidence and become fitter, they have also become fantastic friends.”
