Polmaise to face Borestone

Former winners Polmaise and Borestone will line up in Friday’s Stirling District League final at Airthrey Spa, Bruidge of Allan.

In last week’s semi-finals Polmaise defeated Spittalmyr­e 35-12 while Borestone beat Causewahea­d 38-32. Top Fifteen

First round ties in the City of Stirling Top Fifteen contest get underway tomorrow (Thursday).

They are Dunblane v Stirling, Cambusbarr­on v Causewayhe­ad, Spittalmyr­e v Airthrey Spa, Doune Castle v Polmaise and Borestone v Bridge of Allan.

The event is sponsored by Andrew Anderson and Sons, Funeral Directors and J&W Builders Ltd. Scottish

The last of the District Nine qualifiers for the national championsh­ips at Ayr Northfield emerged last week.

In the mixed pairs Rita Smith and Gary Malcolmson (Polmaise) defeated Rebecca Craig and Colin Craig (Alloa East End) 19-12, while in the junior singles, Peter Kirk (Alloa East End) won 21-9 against Aaron Furzer (Airthrey Spa). Polmaise

Peter Black, John Barrie (Borestone) and Alex McNeil were the winners of last Saturday’s Polmaise triples competitio­n.

Runners up were Stephen Fleming (Banton), Sean McBride (Bainsford) and Keiran Georgeson (Grahamston).

Other section winners were Gary Malcolmson, Sandy Deans (Polmaise) and Barry McArthur (Adrian) along with Robert Johnston (Polmaise), Pat Neilson and David McKean(Stirling).

Event sponsors were Fallin Public House Society and Rabs Taxis. Riverside

The club played its annual friendly fixture against Causewayhe­ad on Saturday at Riverside and won by 55 shots to 45. The next home friendly is against Comrie on Sunday at 2pm.
