Vaulters on their travels

Members of Wee County Vaulters have been performing at home and abroad over the past couple of weeks.

Eight vaulters, four lungers and three horses made the long trip to CVI Pezinok held at JK Rozálka, Pezinok, Slovakia for a two-day event recently.

In the Child 1* class on day one, Codi Hay and Sally Henderson finished in 11th and 12th place respective­ly with both girls vaulting on Glaxtown Billy lunged by Lisa Mercer.

The Female Individual Junior 1* class resulted in Emma Leslie, vaulting on Tylers Kernel lunged by Clare Henderson, finishing seventh.

A competitiv­e Junior Female Individual 2* first round had 36 vaulters participat­ing and Kerri Brylka, Mhairi Hume and Katie Henderson all progressed to the second round. Kyra

Macdonald on Tylers Kernel finished down the field having experience­d issues with the music played for her performanc­e.

The Junior Pas de deux 2* class also had Kerri and Katie vaulting on Captain Jack lunged by John Eccles, topping the leaderboar­d after the completion of the first round.

Rebecca Norval was in the Senior Female Individual 3* Technical tests, vaulting on Captain Jack lunged by Hannah Eccles, but balance problems saw her slip off the side and she fin ished 13th

Sunday was finals’day. The Junior Individual Female 2* saw Kerri achieve a score of 8.051 for her free test to place third overall with Mhairi finishing eighth place and Katie Henderson 13th.

The final highlight was Kerri and Katie winning the Junior 2* Pas de deux class. Captain Jack also received the prize for the highest scoring Pas de deux horse during the event.

Whilst this was all occurring in Slovakia, five other Wee County Valutlers participat­ed at the Scottish Equestrian Vaulting competitio­n held at Highfield of Howe, Giffordtow­n.

Ferne Smith was first in the Child Female 1*class and Joanne Messner fourth in the Junior Female 1* class vaulting on Ulisco de Montesec, lunged by Liz Mackay. Michelle Messner was second in the Senior 1* class vaulting on Dazzling Edition, lunged by Janice Henderson.

In the Pre-Novice section, Eilidh Bennet was first and Ferne fourth in their respective classes. Both vaulted on Toby with Eilidh lunged by Liz Mackay and Karly by Adele Gibson. The Open Walk Pas de deux class resulted in Eilidh and Ferne placing second with Michelle and Joanne finishing fifth. Both vaulted on Superdelux lunged by Lynn Ballantyne.
