Ciara (15) shines at hockey

A schoolgirl from Dunblane was recently given an accolade for her hockey skills.

Ciara Forgie, who attends Kilgraston School, Bridge of Earn, won the‘most promising player of the year’award from Perthshire Hockey Club.

The 15-year-old, a member of Midland Hockey’s U14 team, is trialling for U16s next season, and is a member of Kilgraston School’s Hockey Academy.

She trains and plays for Perthshire Hockey Club’s 1st XI team.

Director of Sport at Kilgraston, ex-Olympian Pauline Stott MBE who set up the Hockey Academy when she came to the school ten years ago, said:“Ciara is such a natural athlete.

“She is fast and agile and works extremely hard on her core skills.

“Ciara is keen to learn across sports and utilises her talents across the discipline­s.”

Ciara, who started at Kilgraston in 2015, also enjoys athletics, skiing and playing the flute.

She will be going into upper fifth after summer.

The Society of the Sacred Heart run Kilgraston School which opened in the 1930s.

It became an independen­t Catholic charitable trust in 2000.

School alumni include four-star internatio­nal event rider Louisa Milne Home and champion conditiona­l jockey Lucy Alexander and hockey player Katie Robertson who took part in this year’s Commonweal­th Games.
