A former soldier and author talked about his latest novel set in WW2 at Dunblane Golf Club earlier this month.

Businessman Angus MacDonald wrote‘We Fought for Ardnish’about a Scottish soldier who is sent on a mission to the Alps.

He meets a young French Canadian Special Operations Executive (SOE) Francoise there.

When she is captured, he realises he has fallen in love with her.

More than 100 people attended the event at Dunblane Golf Club in which Mr MacDonald was interviewed by retired BBC journalist Alan MacKay.

The sculptures, made from recycled material, will be showcased at the Year of Young People 2018 space at GO LIVE! at the Green during the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.

The Junk Art Challenge, launched by Young Scot, calls for artists across Stirling to create thought–provoking sculpture designs that explore young people’s passion for sustainability including reducing plastic waste and improving recycling in Scotland.

Artists aged 16–26 will use recycled, upcycled and reclaimed materials for their sculpture to champion sustainability.

The young people have until Thursday July 26 to enter with their initial ideas and can go to young.scot/yoyp2018 for details.
