My dismay at ‘scum’ banner

-

Dear Editor

I was so dismayed to see the ‘Tory scum out’banner carried at the pro-independence march through Stirling (Observer , June 27, 2018) that I emailed MSP Bruce Crawford on that day to complain.

It was plainly wrong. It is not acceptable to merely state that it was not the SNP and then to walk behind such a banner. At the rally at the Bannockburn centre, I believe there was a stall selling tee-shirts with the logo‘F*** the Tories’. What kind of language is that when children are present ?

It’s time Mr Crawford truly represented his constituents. We voted‘No’in 2014 by a considerable majority in the ‘once in a lifetime’referendum which tore families and friendships apart.

In the General Election in 2017, more than half of those who voted backed pro-union parties. Those parties are also against a second referendum.

The repeated vandalism of our MP’s office should be abhorred by Mr Crawford loudly and clearly.

On leaving the EU, Scotland will have significant more powers. Mr Crawford should be using his time to help the country get ready for these powers rather than joining the 20,000 on a sunny day shouting for a referendum the majority of us don’t want. The constant drone for a second independence referendum does no one any good.
