Memorial trophy for Michael

-

Top amateur side Milton have commissioned a special trophy in memory of founder member Michael Mullane, who died last month.

Milton will meet Dunipace for the Michael Mullane Memorial Pre-Season Shield on Saturday, July 21, at Bluebellwood.

A club spokesperson said:“All at Milton Football Club have been saddened at the passing of our dear friend and founder member Michael Mullane.

“A man of loyalty, trust and dedication, Mick epitomised everything that is great about our club. For more than 40 years he helped transform it from a one-team club to one of the biggest grassroots football clubs in the Central Belt, housing around 20 teams of children from as young as three to under 19s and amateur level.

“Mick was extremely proud of his Milton family and the huge role it plays in the community.

“Mick made a huge circle of friends throughout the football fraternity, particularly those associated with the SAFA and Caledonian League and he was held in extremely high regard by all.

“Dunipace FC have accepted our invitation to contest this trophy for the first time.

“The match will kick-off at 2pm and we hope to welcome a big crowd in memory of Mick and his dedication to Milton FC and to show support to his family and friends.”
