Two businesses are settling in to new premises, creating several jobs in the process.

Stirling Trailer Centre is now in a £1 million facility at Stirling Agricultural Centre, creating three new jobs and taking their total workforce to 14.

Veterinary practice Struthers and Scott, established in Stirlingshire and Perthshire for more than 60 years, is enjoying its new premises next to Doune Ponds Community Woodland.

Stirling Trailer Centre, owned by Jayner and Robin Gray, is the principal distributor of Ifor Williams trailers in Central and West of Scotland with a stock of new and used trailers for sale together with a spares department, servicing and repairs centre, commercial workshop and a growing hire fleet.

The business has moved from Bandeath Industrial Estate in Throsk to the standalone premises in The Paddock at the headquarters of United Auctions.

Jayne Gray said:“Everyone knows where the agricultural centre is, with its central location and easy motorway access to and from the rest of Scotland.

“We’ll be much more accessible for thousands of farmers who can book a same-day service for their trailers while they do business at the mart.

“It also allows us to consolidate our growing range of services under one new roof, making the company more efficient and giving us the ability to expand.”

UA managing director George Purves said:“The company’s inclusion at the centre adds to the already impressive line-up of agri and rural services and perfectly complements our offering to the farming community.”

Struthers and Scott has hired an additional registered veterinary nurse since moving into the new premises and says there is potential for more posts to come.

The clinic has dedicated dog and cat waiting areas, nurse room, operating theatre, X-ray and ultrasound scanning room and a dental room with an animal dental X-ray machine.

Already employing a team of 16, Colin Scott and Ian Rodger own the practice, with Colin acting as the managing partner in Doune.

Colin said:“With the business continuing to grow, our old premises in Doune was becoming unfit for purpose and moving to this purposebuilt surgery allows better flow of work, which is better all round for clients, staff, and, most importantly, our patients.”
