History of battles at Sauchieburn

-

Mr Roddie hit the headlines in 2014 after Riding for the Disabled said they were forced to quit their long-established base in the Sauchieburn estate, which had been supported by the previous owner.

RDA officials said the row with Mr Roddie over their lease, insurance and the deteriorating state of the potholed access road made it difficult for many of the riders to reach the centre.

Mr Roddie maintained there were problems with the charity’s lease as well as disagreement over road repairs.

In 2016 Stirling Council also appeared to have drawn battle lines with the landowner over his bid to divert a pathway that runs through his estate and replace it with an alternative path.

Critics suggested he was trying to restrict access to the public but he said it was to do with compliance with public liability insurance.

Mr Roddie is currently embroiled with Stirling Council in a dispute over the erection of a CCTV camera pole and has appealed against an enforcement notice issued by Stirling Council, telling him to take it down.

The council claim attempts over several months to engage with him over the need for a planning application for the pole have failed.

Mr Roddie, who has since submitted the application, said it was an oversight.
