Club trophy
Teenagers Robyn Hodgson and Emily Franzmann are the first winners of a trophy presented in memory of the founder of Strathblane and District branch of the Pony Club.
The Tullochan Trophy will be awarded to the club member who achieves the highest number of points at the annual gymkhana held in Drymen Showfield.
Robyn (16) competed on Kind Gent and Emily (17) on King Theodine.
Irene Whitson, who has been the district commissioner for the branch since 1996, said:“The girls were successful in numerous equestrian disciplines including show jumping, dressage and working hunter events to win the equitation prize at the Gartocharn Show earlier this year.”
Presenting the trophy, Fiona Stuart MBE said:“I am delighted to present this trophy to two recipients and wish them many congratulations and best wishes for the future.”
The trophy was donated by Fiona in memory of her mother Joan Pearson, who founded the branch 70 years ago.
Tullochan is the name of the farm where Fiona grew up and where she runs a training and livery yard for 20 horses and ponies.
Fiona (72) represented Britain internationally and was shortlisted for the British Olympic team.
She followed in her mother’s footsteps by being heavily involved with the Strathblane and District club, where she volunteered for 25 years and became chief instructor. She still supports the branch by offering Tullochan Farm as a training facility.
Strathblane and District Branch of the Pony Club offers young people a range of equestrian activities. For more information contact strathblane@pcuk. org.
