St Andrew’s Scottish Episcopal Church Holy Communion on Sunday and Wednesday at 10am. Best kept garden The annual competitio­n for the Callander Community Council Cup is coming up. Entry forms are available from the library. Judging is at end of July. Three gardens will be chosen with certificat­es for all and the trophy for first place will be presented at the annual show on Saturday, August 25 in Callander Kirk Hall. Callander Kirk Church prayer meeting is on the last Sunday of each month in Room 2 in the Kirk Hall from 10-11am. All-Age morning worship at 11.15am and Songs of Praise at 8pm in Callander Kirk. Concert The final is a series of concerts at Callandser Kirk is on Saturday, August 4 at 7.30pm. Concert from New World features the West Winds Music Ensemble from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The ensemble is an instrument­al combinatio­n of 35 to 40 musicians who will bring this series of concerts to a rousing conclusion. Support supplied by Callander Cho- rale. Admission £5 at the door (accompanie­d children free). Proceeds go to local charities.

Theatre Three Wee Crows touring theatre company are coming to Gartmore Village Hall on Saturday, August 18 with Home Fires Broken Sons, a commemorat­ion piece of theatre marking the Great War from the home front point of view. It is an original piece that includes genuine letters from men at the front to their loved ones, music and film. The show, which deals with the rigours of war is not without its comic lighter moments. There are three actresses Jane Dunbar, Vivienne de Carris and Kathleen Campbell accompanie­d by Anne Barlow on fiddle. Tickets are £12.50 adult, £5 child and family ticket £30 (all children up to age 16 included) are available from Gartmore Village Shop 01877 382214, online at www.wegotticke­ts.com and on the door. Flower Show Schedules are now available in McNicoll’s Stores for the 117th annual flower show in the village hall on Sunday, August 19 at 12.30pm. Flower Show Garden Competitio­n (confined) The competitio­n will include both natural/ nature -friendly and formal gardens. Front or back gardens can be entered. To enter, email a picture of your garden to the Kippen Flower Show address: kippenflow­ershow@hotmail. com, also including your name and address. Emails should be received by midnight Monday, August 13. The judging will take place using the photos, with a follow-up visit to the winning garden before the winner is announced on the day of the show. The submitted garden photos will be shared on the Kippen Flower Show Facebook page but Facebook likes will not be taken into account for the judging. Heritage Exhibition Dates for this annual event are Friday, Saturday and Sunday August 17-19, from 2-5pm. Main venue is again the Reading Room which in addition to a century of photograph­s will include exhibits from the Old Kirkyard at the Cross. Also open will be the Old Smiddy, but unfortunat­ely the former Boatyard will not be available. Classics in Kippen Summer Serenade will be an evening of light arias, songs and ensembles from the classical and music theatre, performed by some local Royal Conservato­ire of Scotland singers in Kippen Parish Church tonight (Friday) at 7.30pm.
