Thursday, July 19 Caley Marts sold 206 cattle comprising 96 bullocks, heifers and young bulls, 85 cast cows and bulls and 25 calves and stirks.

A plainer show of cattle to that of last week would be slightly easier on the week.

Prime heifers sold to 260p pkg for a Limousin from W Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn purchased by Robert Alexander Ltd, Port Glasgow and to £1616 for a Charolais from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuth­ill, Muthill to Hugh A Black and Sons.

Prime bullocks sold to 245p pkg for a Limousin from TH Gray, Balquharra­ge, Lennoxtown to WW Wales Ltd, Kilmarnock and to £1732 for a Limousin from J Brown, Greencraig, Falkirk.

Cast males averaged 123p selling to 147p for a Blonde D’Aquitaine from Blairsgree­n Farm Ltd, Saline and to £1580 for the same beast.

Monday, July 23 Caley Marts had forward 275 store and breeding cattle.

Bullocks averaged 205p pkg selling to 232p for a Blonde D’Aquitaine from AG Finlay, Strathavon, Slamannan and to £1070 for Beef Shorthorns from Laigh Skeoch, Stirling.

Heifers averaged 199p pkg selling to 211p for a Limousin from S Graham, Parkhouse, Crieff and to £1040 for Aberdeen Angus from T Young, Glencraigs, Campbeltow­n.

Black and Whites averaged 148p pkg selling to 161p from Laigh Skeoch and to £850 from the same home.

Tuesday, July 24 Caley Marts sold 1248 prime lambs and cast ewes and tups.

All classes of lambs sharper on the week with 760 prime lambs averaging 183.11p (+5.57p on the week). SQQ average was 185.3p pkg (+6p on the week) and 58 export lambs (22kg) averaged 96p.

Top price of the day went to Doune Farms for a pair of 49kg Beltex at £103. Top price per kg went to HT Shanks, Easter Cash for a cracking 44kg Beltex Lamb at 216p pkg.
