Remembering loved ones every step of the way

-

A walk which is organised to give people the chance to remember loved ones they have lost will take place next month.

Another Way to Remember will see participants embark on a 10-mile route which takes in parts of the Devon Way and the Hillfoots Diamond Jubilee Way between Dollar and Stirling.

The walk will take place on Saturday, September 1, for the third year and is said to provide an opportunity to pause, reflect and celebrate those who have passed.

Ian and Joyce Watkinson, from Tillicoultry, took part last year and are planning to lace up their walking boots again this time around.

Ian said:“I heard about the walk through my local church and decided it would be a nice thing to do to celebrate the life of our son, Andrew, who died two years ago.

“We really enjoyed taking part last year, not only was it a tough challenge but we found it a positive experience – walking and sharing stories with new friends.”

The event is being organised by the Christian Aid Scotland and In Memory Co-ordinator Jo Dallas will be leading the walk. She said:“It’s something I was keen to establish as an event to allow people the opportunity in our busy lives to do something tangible and positive to remember a loved one.”

At the start of the walk, at Dollar Parish Church, each person will receive a small candle and carry these on the journey, before they are lit at the end of the walk at Logie Kirk.

To sign up go to christianaid.org.uk, or email Jo Dallas on jdallas@christian-aid. org or phone 0141 241 6139.
