Denny bowers won the Stirling County Top Ten title on Sunday with a hard fought victory over Spittalmyr­e.

Both teams finished with four points but Denny, who last won the title in 2014, were 13 shots to the good.

In the singles Spittalmyr­e’s David Stewart defeated Darren Couper 21-13, while in the pairs contest Charlie Gibson and Fraser Gray (Spittamyre) finished 18-9 ahead of James McAteer and Paul McAteer.

The triples final was won by Denny’s John McCafferty, John McAteer and Scott Donaldson with a 20-12 victory over Jim Reid, Alan MacKintosh and GeorgeYoun­g.

Denny four Craig Collier, Willie Ferguson, Michael Alines and Graham Dawson had a thumping 28-6 win over R Kiakowski, D McEwan, C Miller and Neil Robertson.

Totals: Denny four points plus 70, Spittalmyr­e four points plus 57. Denny’s win now secures them a place in next year’s Scottish Top Ten competitio­n.

Stirling Pairs Home pairing Martin Graham and Pat Neilson were the winners of last Saturday’s Stirling Pairs competitio­n.

In the final of the Radio Music Stores-sponsored event they defeated Neil Boyle and Larry Green (Borestone). Losing semi-finalists were Stirling’s Jim McLachlan and Graham

Farquharso­n along with Falconer Mitchell and Hugh Letford.

Reid Trophy Bridge of Allan BC have won the Reid Trophy.

In the recent Central Associatio­n tournament they amassed a winning tally of seven points and 31 shots.

Runners up were Polmaise BC with six plus 12.

Top Fifteen The final of the City of Stirling Top Fifteen contest between Stirling and Borestone will be played at the Dunblane green, on Sunday, August 12, starting at 2pm.

The event is sponsored by Andrew Anderson and Sons, Funeral Directors and by J&W Builders Ltd.

Internatio­nal The Dunblane green will be one of next week’s venues for a three-day internatio­nal test series between a Bowls Scotland Academy squad and a Hong Kong developmen­t team.

The Hong Kong bowlers will be in action at Dunblane, on Thursday, August 16 starting at 9.30am.

The other two series matches are scheduled for Perth and Adrian greens.

Spittalmyr­e The annual fixture between Spittalmyr­e and Kinnoull took place on Saturday at the Bruce Street green.

The game was played in the usual spirit of cammerader­ie and sportsmans­hip with the prestigiou­s Jim Lockhart Trophy being retained by the home team after a hard-fought contest.

Afternoon tea was provided and the Kinnoull president thanked all concerned and compliment­ed the greenkeepe­r on the excellent condition of the playing surface considerin­g the recent dry spell.
