Thousands sign up to our Vue protest

at discounted prices with Super Monday ticket prices at £3.99, Mini Mornings for £2.49, two cinema tickets for the price of one every Tuesday and Wednesday with Meerkat Movies, and senior screenings for £3.99.

“Vue Stirling customers can take advantage of great money saving offers and there are also a number of other discounted opportunities through a range of third-party partners which we would happily provide support to our customers in understanding how to access these deals.”

Stirling MSP Mr Crawford wrote to bosses at the cinema last week and was left frustrated by their failure to address his concerns.

Urging people to back the campaign, he said: “It’s clear that many local people do not consider the current pricing structure to be a fair one.

“Exclusive deals aside, Vue’s Stirling cinema has been found to be the most expensive for tickets in Scotland. This is absurd.

“There is no reasonable excuse for charging a customer in Stirling £7 more than someone in Inverness or £5 more than someone in Edinburgh.

“I did not receive a response that fully explained Vue’s reasoning for this situation, nor did they commit to a review of their current pricing structure following my calls for one.

“That is why I fully support the Stirling Observer’s efforts and would encourage local residents to back their campaign for fair ticket prices.”

Dean Lockhart said: “I have pledged my support to the campaign being run by the Stirling Observer on the ticket pricing policy being used by Vue cinema and the negative impact these inflated ticket prices are having upon those living in and around Stirling.

“I believe that Vue cinemas should explain to people in Stirling why they should have to pay more for the same ticket and service which is available in other areas at a lower cost.

“This is not about telling a business how much to charge its customers but ensuring that people in Stirling are not disadvantaged by this seemingly bizarre pricing policy.”

A comparison carried out by the Observer last week found that a standard adult ticket for a movie at the Stirling cinema cost £12.47 compared to £5.74 in Hamilton, Aberdeen, Inverness and Livingston.

Prices in Edinburgh, at the Omni Centre and Ocean Terminal, are £6.74 while in Glasgow they are £10.79.

The Vue say that they operate a “dynamic pricing policy” which enables them to vary prices from venue to venue.
