Bowling club Tomorrow (Saturday) the club is away to Comrie in the last West Perthshire League fixture of the season. On Sunday, the mixed triples, sponsored by G Currid (Golden Charter) takes place at 9.30am for 10am start. The club thanked everyone who donated bottles or bottle tickets for the bottle stall. Garden competitio­n The winners of the Callander Community Cup for best kept garden are: 1 Isobel MacLeod, 30A Pearl Street; 2 Martin Trainor, 5/15 North Church Street on behalf of Trust Housing; 3 Margaret Rae, 28 Pearl Street. Others entering this year were all commended for different aspects of their gardens. The Callander Community Cup and prize certificat­es will be presented at the annual horticultu­ral show on August 25 at 3pm in the Kirk hall.

Flower show This year’s show will be held on Saturday, August 18, at the Menzies Hall. Exhibits will be accepted from 8-9pm the night before and from 8-9.30am on show day. The hall will be open for viewings at 2pm and a prize giving ceremony will be held at 3pm. A sales table will be available throughout. Kirk The service on Sunday will be at 9.30am and will be conducted by the Rev Sigrid Marten. A creche is available. Tea and coffee are available after the service.

\Gartmore

Circle dance Group meets every second Thursday of the month in Gartmore Village Hall, 2-4pm. Theatre Three Wee Crows touring theatre company will be at Gartmore Village Hall on Saturday, August 18, with ‘Home Fires Broken Sons’, a piece of theatre marking the Great War from the home front point of view. It is an original piece that includes genuine letters from men at the front to their loved ones, music and film. The show, which deals with the rigours of war, is not without its lighter moments. Actresses Jane Dunbar, Vivienne de Carris and Kathleen Campbell are accompanie­d by Anne Barlow on fiddle. Tickets are £12.50 adult, £5 child and family ticket £30 (all children up to age 16 included), available from Gartmore Village Shop 01877 382214, online at www.wegotticke­ts.com and on the door.
