On Thursday, August 2, Caledonian Marts sold 142 cattle comprising 81 prime bullocks, heifers and young bulls and 61 cast cows and bulls.

Bullocks sold to 252p pkg from DS and RC Taylor, Easter Ochtermuthill, Muthill and to £1663.80 from MI Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar purchased by J Hastie Butchers, Markinch.

Heifers sold to 258p pkg from Easter Ochtermuthill purchased by D Campbell Butchers, Callander and to £1613.64 from M Jack, Carriston, Star of Markinch purchased by HA Black and Sons Butchers, Stirling.

Young bulls sold to 210p pkg for a Charolais from JM More, Beild, Gargunnock and to £1482.60 for the same beast.

Also forward were 61 cast cows and bulls. Beef cows averaged 126p selling to 172p pkg for a Limousin from J MacGregor, Dyke, Milton of Campsie and to £1430 for a Limousin from WI and AW Callion, Bolfornought, Stirling.

Dairy cows averaged 99p selling to 107p pkg from J Pollock and Sons, Bonnyhill, Bonnybridge and to £1040 from the same home.

Cast males sold to 147p for a Limousin from WI and AW Callion, Bolfornought, and to £1490 for the same beast.
