Opera shows pop up in city

A theatre on wheels is coming to Stirling later this month with two fun-filled shows.

Scottish Opera are bringing their Pop-up Opera Roadshow to the city for performanc­es on August 26.

They will be free to attend and will take place in a truck parked outside in the Albert Halls car park.

‘Be a Sport, Spike!’follows Mike‘The Spike’McTavish – the greatest sportsman the world has ever seen.

However there is one thing he can’t do – sing. Join him and his friends as he starts to exercise those vocal chords. Show takes place at 3pm.

At 11am and 1pm‘A Little Bit of HMS Pinafore’tells the story of Josephine, daughter of the captain of HMS Pinafore. She is in love with one of the crew and her father definitely doesn’t approve.

Overturnin­g social order and parental wishes, the couple plan to elope, but a surprise confession soon leaves everything in doubt.

Both shows last around 25 minutes and feature a storytelle­r, singers, musicians and a series of colourful illustrati­ons.
