Roads close as band get ready to rock

- Robert Fairnie

People are being reminded of a series of road closures this weekend as 40,000 people flock the city for the Runrig concerts.

The A811 Raploch Road will be closed from 10am on Friday until 8am on Sunday from the junction of Back O’Hill Road and Dumbarton Road. Residents of Ballengeich Road will be able to turn left on to Raploch Road during this period.

Raploch Road will also be off-limits between Huntly Crescent and Back O’Hill Road between 10am on Friday and 1am on Saturday, and 10am on Saturday until 1am on Sunday.

On Dumbarton Road a 720-metre stretch from the A811 junction will be closed off for up to 20-minutes between 11pm and midnight each night.

The pedestrian footway adjacent to Millennium Way and Raploch Road will be closed off too.

Access to all routes will be maintained for emergency vehicles on blue lights.

Stirling Council’s traffic management officers will be working with firm RSS Events to minimise the impact the events have on roads in the area.

Motorway traffic coming to the area is directed to leave the M9 at Craigforth. The A84 will then be used to access the site.

The main car park is located just off the road, providing parking for 3500 vehicles. This will be open from 1pm to 1am on both days. The campsite car park has capacity for a further 1300 cars.

Access to the car parks is by pre-paid tickets for all vehicles. Drop-off and collection points are available in the Castleview park and ride, off the roundabout on the A84.

The campsite will be open from 10am on Friday until 12pm on Sunday.
