No more signings on the cards for Binos

-

Stirling Albion manager Dave Mackay doesn’t expect to sign any more players before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

Under the new SPFL rules, clubs in League 1 and League 2 will also be able to make loan signings during September but Mackay says new arrivals are unlikely at this stage.

Jordan Allan (Elgin City), Danny Jardine (St Johnstone), Kevin Fell (UB United), Mark Stewart (Dumbarton), Calum Ferrie (Dundee, loan), Jason Marr (Albion Rovers), Neil McLaughlin (Motherwell, loan) and Dominic Docherty (Queen’s Park) have joined this summer.

He said:“To be honest, I don’t think we’ll be doing anything because the budget is more or less gone. It’s tough at the minute because of injuries but we’ve got 17 first-team players signed up and unfortunately we don’t have the budget of other teams in this league

“It would have to be a very cheap loan if we went down that route.

“The budget is what it is and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s basically spent – we had pretty much the same as last season.

“I’m not complaining but it’s difficult to compete with the likes of Clyde, Edinburgh City and Peterhead. BUt I think the squad is good enough to achieve good things this year and I think we’ll get there but there’s a lot of work to be done.

“We know this group can play better, they have shown it in spells . We played well at Peterhead and were excellent in the first half at Dunfermline. We look a little bit fragile at the minute but it’s our job to make us more robust.”
