BBQ and beers served up at 12-hour festival

- Robert Fairnie

Three talented live acts will provide the soundtrack as Allanwater Brewhouse hosts an ambitious 12hour Festival in a Day this weekend.

The event was inspired by the venue’s recent successful Beer, Cider and Bangers Festival which saw almost 700 people turn out.

In addition to the music, there will be a feast of street barbecue food and a range of beers and ciders on offer on Saturday.

Owner Douglas Ross is looking forward to bringing the curtain down on their summer season with the packed event.

He said: “Our philosophy is that there is nothing better than great live music accompanied by a selection of fine beers and street food, and we have really pushed out the boat in that respect.”

The event will kick off at midday when the barbecue is fired up before the live music gets underway at 3pm.

Douglas added: “Top of the bill on Saturday will be Matt Little, the man-in-black, who has built himself a real following locally with his acoustic interpretation of some timeless classics – in particular his version of ‘Hurt’ is a real show stealer.

“In the early evening slot we will have Tom Thompson and his acoustic folk set, which will really get the toes tapping.”

Also set to impress revellers at the Allanwater Brewhouse’s Festival in a Day will be a newbie beer – with a difference.

Douglas said: “The Black Lager is inspired by Czech brewing principals and will be a pint which leaves the drinker in disbelief at what they are drinking – namely a refreshing lager that looks like a stout.”

There will also be food by Bridge of Allan butcher John Cullens – with bangers flavoured with everything from beetroot to beer.
