Stalker made Facebook threats to ex

-

A thug who threatened his former partner on a variety of social media accounts was this week remanded in custody.

Alan Buchanan had admitted a stalking charge aggravated by the abuse of a partner or ex-partner.

But he did not turn up for social work appointments to create a background report for Stirling Sheriff Court.

The offence had occurred between May 6 and 11 this year at Stirling Road and Polmaise Crescent, both Fallin.

Twenty-nine-year-old Buchanan had pled guilty to engaging in a course of conduct which caused Gillian Wilson fear or alarm.

He repeatedly contacted her and attempted to contact her on social media using various Facebook profiles and sent messages containing threatening and offensive content.

Buchanan also phoned Ms Wilson, shouted at her, made threats of violence towards her and members of her family and made offensive comments to her.

Stirling Sheriff Court heard on Wednesday that Buchanan had not kept appointments with social workers to prepare a report for the court.

His agent accepted that Buchanan, currently living in Glasgow, was“not the best timekeeper.”

He explained that his client generally suffers from a high level of anxiety but on this day his anxiety was heightened by being in an unfamiliar area of Glasgow.

Sheriff Wyllie Robertson said that Buchanan had displayed a contemptuous attitude to social workers and he was not prepared to run the risk of him not attending an appointment again.

Buchanan was remanded in custody until September 19 for the report to be prepared.
