Partner fined for smashing window

-

A Stirling man who tried to enter his former partner’s home by smashing a window with his fist was this week fined £400.

Dean Stevenson, of Cedar Avenue, was also ordered to pay compensation to Stirling Council for the damage to the Carrick Court property.

The 20-year-old had admitted a charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner there on May 25.

At Stirling Sheriff Court on Wednesday fiscal depute Lindsey Brooks said Stevenson and his partner, Ms Glen, had been in a relationship for three years and had a two-yearold child.

They had split up two weeks before the incident but Stevenson remained in contact with his ex.

On May 25 he went to the house four times. Ms Glen did not let him and he left without incident.

However, at 4.50pm the accused returnedand tried to get in again. Ms Glen threatened to call the police but she saw him hit the kitchen door window with his fist and smash it.

Ms Glen was in fear, said Ms Brooks, and was screaming at Stevenson to stop.

She ran to the front door and into the garden and called the police.

Stevenson tried to take the phone from her, but she managed to contact police.

Officers noticed that Stevenson had scratch marks on his arm and he was arrested. He made no reply to caution and charge.

When interviewed he was asked about the 999 call made by Ms Glen.

He stated that he would never have smashed the window had it not been for a comment she made to him.

Stevenson’s agent Stan Quirk told Sheriff Wyllie Robertson that his client had no previous convictions and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

At the time of the incident the couple’s relationship had stumbled, he said, but it was now “rekindled.”

Mr Quirk pointed out that Stevenson earned £1800 per month.

Sheriff Robertson fined the accused £400 and ordered him to pay Stirling Council £120 in compensation.
