Hospice roof appeal

- Kaiya Marjoribanks

Stirling MP Stephen Kerr visited Strathcarron Hospice to help promote its £50,000 Raise the Roof fundraising appeal

The hospice provides specialist palliative care for more than 1000 people every year from across the Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.

It is also actively involved in research and education projects in palliative care as well as promoting best practice in its delivery.

All services are free and are provided when and where they are needed - in patients’ own homes, in hospitals and care homes and in the hospice itself where there is a 24 bed inpatient facility.

Mr Kerr said:“So many families have benefited from the truly wonderful care provided at Strathcarron. We are extremely fortunate to have this much loved organisation with its caring, professional staff and dedicated volunteers available to help people at the most difficult of times.

“Now let’s help get to the target needed to get these repairs done as quickly as possible and I would ask, if you are able to, please consider giving something to help with their vital work.”

Claire MacDonald of Strathcarron Hospice said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Kerr to the hospice to visit our facilities recently and greatly appreciate his support.

“We need to raise £50,000 in order to fund vital roof repairs here and we are urging our local community to support us by hosting a fundraising event at work or in the community, or by texting‘ROOF38 £5’to 70070 to donate £5.”
