Bowling club On Sunday, August 19 the Mixed Pairs were played on a fairly dry day. After keen competitio­n the winners were Donald Retson and Eileen Mayhew (Kippen). Runnersup were Walter Hanlon and Barbara Scott (Braco). Losing semi-finalists were Brian and Gina Howieson (Springburn) and Max Taylor and Roseann Ditch (Kippen). Thanks go to all who came and helped to make it a fun day. Points on Monday night went to Lilian, Nessie, Brian, Mac, Sheena Gibson and Stewart Gibson. Golf society Buchlyvie Golf Society’s members travelled to Murrayshal­l Golf Course in Scone on Saturday to play for the Adrian Pirie sponsored trophy. Playing on the longer main Murrayshal­l course, David McGuffie emerged as winner with Stephen Hart runner up and Adrian Pirie in third place. David also won the prize for Nearest the Pin with Stephen taking the Magic Twos prize as the only person to record a two over the last two outings. The society’s next outing is the annual charity day Texas Scramble which will take place at Aberfoyle Golf Club on Saturday, October 6.

Coffee morning Trossachs Kirk Coffee Morning will be held in Brig o’Turk Village Hall tomorrow (Saturday). Coffees, teas and home baking from 10am-noon and a small craft stall will be present. Bowls The Anderson Singles, which was cancelled last Sunday, has been reschedule­d for Saturday, September 8 at 10.30am for an 11am start. Huge thanks to Ross for sponsoring the event. Callander Kirk Sunday early worship is at 10am in the kirk hall led by Gill (Creation - Olive). Morning service is at 11.15am in Callander Kirk and Trossachs Kirk monthly service at 4pm including pilgrimage. Time for Silence is at 8pm in the kirk. Teapot Cafe is open in the kirk hall library on Wednesdays from 10.30am to noon. Offers of help will be much appreciate­d. The Trossachs Pilgrimage and Picnic 2018 will take place on Sunday. Killearn Kirk Members unanimousl­y voted in favour of calling the Rev Stuart Sharp to be their new minister. The Presbytery of Stirling will now be advised and will set a date for Mr Sharp, currently minister at Camelon Parish Church, to take up his new charge. On Sunday at 10.30am the Rev David Munro will lead the worship after which there will be a short celebratio­n of Holy Communion. There will be quiet activities for children, accompanie­d by an adult, and, if required, creche facilities will be available. At 2pm there will be a service for the residents of Abbeyfield to which visitors are welcome.

Toddlers Meetings resume after the summer break. Otago The exercise class is on a summer break and returns on September 5 and every Wednesday from 9.45-10.15am in the church hall. Members of the Guild and congregati­on were kept very busy in the gala tearoom in the community hall last Saturday and thanks to contributi­ons from many others, were able to make just over £370. Thanks to everyone who helped. Had they been able to charge for water required by energetic and hot young people they would have made even more! The money raised will help to support the church and also some of the many undertakin­gs with which the national church is involved.
