Monica Cessford from Dunblane Environmen­tal Group will give a talk on Revitalisi­ng The Haugh, Dunblane. The society’s programme of events consists of eight talks (including the Dunblane Lecture), spring walk/lunch, summer outing, Christmas lunch and an AGM, usually with musical entertainm­ent so there is a lot going on. On Saturday, September 8, the BB Project Malawi team is hosting a whisky tasting fundraiser at the Braeport Centre from 7pm. Entitled ‘A Tour of Speyside’, the evening will feature five drams and expert knowledge and trivia about the national drink led by whisky aficionado and Project Malawi leader Colin Anderson. Tickets are £20 and a cash (or contactles­s) bar is available on the night. On Saturday, September 15 there is a family beetle drive at 7pm in the Cathedral Hall, suitable for all ages. Tickets are £5 for adults; accompanie­d children are free. There will be competitio­ns and a raffle on the night. St Ninians Old Parish Church The 8th Stirling (St Ninians) Company of the Boys’ Brigade begins the new session this week.
