Lotto cash boost for Active Stirling
Two Stirling groups have received a National Lottery cash boost.
Active Stirling and Doune Primary will both receive their share of funds in celebration of Scotland’sYear ofYoung People.
Active Stirling have been given £8000 for a project that will see young people plan, develop and deliver a‘Young People’s Health & Wellbeing Day’.
This will be an opportunity for young people to try out new activities. To provide further support, a buddy system will be set up which will continue after the project has ended.
Mark Findlay, employability and volunteering manager at Active Stirling, said:“This is a really exciting time for us – we have a group of highly motivated young people who want to reach out to other young people through physical activity and sport to help change lives.“
Charis McLean. from the Sports Leadership Group, added:“We can’t wait to get started on the project and would like to say a huge thanks to all the National Lottery players who have made this possible and provided us with the funds to bring our project and ideas to life for the young people of Stirling.”
Doune Primary is to get £5500 so that secondary school students can design and deliver physical and mental health workshops over twelve months to primary school pupils.
The funding is part of £474,900 worth of lottery grants being awarded to 55 youth– focused projects that help people aged between 8 and 26.
