Glasgow Harp .... 2 Milton ................ 2

Milton won 3-1 on penalties

Milton keeper Chic Clark was the hero on Saturday when he saved two penalties in a shoot-out to help his side beat Glasgow Harp in their Scottish Amateur Cup replay.

The Bluebellwood side fought adversity through the extra-time period against Glasgow Harp after being reduced to 10 men on the stroke of full-time when Grieve was red-carded for a last-man challenge.

The local lads, blocked the resultant free-kick, rolled up their sleeves during the extra 30 minutes and may well have to save themselves the torture of having to go to penalties.

As it was, Kilgannon, Whiteford and Mitchell were all successful from the spot and Clark made two great save for a 3-1 win.#

Earlier, Milton took the lead after only two minutes. The keeper failed to hold a well struck Rodger free kick and striker William Robertson pounced swiftly to hammer the ball high into the net.

The visitors were flying and Masterson almost netted a second but the keeper saved well. Kilgannon was dictating play and the strong running Rodgers was causing the home team problems.

As often happens, when the goal came it was at the other end when Harp beat the offside trap to equalise.

Milton were playing some tidy football and Robertson almost had a second but the ball went narrowly past the post. Then just before the break the keeper denied Masterson again with a fine save.

Callum Robertson almost scored with a header from a Kilgannon corner kick as Milton piled on the pressure and a second goal finally came when Robertson latched onto a mistake in the Harp defence to roll the ball into the empty net.

The home were shaken but not stirred and as Milton pushed for a killer third goal, Harp equalised after slack play in the Milton midfield.

Last-minute drama with the red card followed by Clark’s keeping heroics, followed and it was Milton who were through to round two.

On Saturday Milton are away to Wishaw Wycombe Wanderers in the West of Scotland Cup.
