Milton faced a tough game against a good level of opposition and came away with the victory in this cup tie.

The game was evenly balanced in the early stages, with both teams providing chances to take the lead.

Milton goalie Clark came to the rescue with two good saves.

The visitors were then dealt a blow when Masterson had to come off early with a knee injury.

McGuckin came on and made an instant impact when he was brought down just outside the box.

Mitchell took the resulting free kick but was unlucky as his shot came back off the crossbar and cleared to safety.

Robertson went close as his effort sailed narrowly past the post.

Just before the break Mitchell had another effort from a free kick but the goalkeeper made the save.

Milton took the game to the home team but Wishaw defended well.

The break through came when Robertson sent Shaddick through on goal and just as he was about to pull the trigger he was pulled back in the box. Whiteford slotted the resultant spot into the net.

Wishaw tried everything to level the game but Milton showed composure to see the game out.

This Saturday Milton are at home to Thorn with a 2pm kick off.

Westquarter Violet ... 7 Riverside Ams .......... 2

Riverside only had eleven available players for this cup tie, but they finished the first half the stronger side and the half–time score of 1–1 accurately reflected how the game had gone.

A series of further injuries in the second half meant that Riverside effectively finished the match with only eight players and a late collapse provided a score line that didn’t do the effort put in by Riverside justice.

Both sides also missed glorious opportunities from the penalty spot.

The Riverside goals were scored by Adam Hamilton and Callum Parry and the Riverside man of the match was Adam Hamilton, who played the entire 90 minutes despite carrying an injury.
