Jason Marr and trialist Evan Horne – a former St Mirren midfielder – came into the side while Kevin Moon returned to the squad after two months out.

Horne impressed at right wing–back while Allan, playing on the left of a back three, was voted man of the match.

Watched by a crowd of 702, Stirling were on the front foot from the start and could have scored inside 20 seconds but Peter MacDonald saw his effort turned behind by Hart after being picked out by Horne.

The only goal arrived after 12 minutes. Allan’s corner from the right carried beyond the back post but skipper McGeachie did well to keep it alive and his header from a tight angle found the net, despite the efforts of Gregor Fotheringh­am on the line.

The centre–half ’s last goal came in a 3-0 win over Annan in February but this one was decisive.

Albion bossed the game for the opening half hour, albeit without creating too many chances, and almost added a second just before half-time when Allan smacked a 30– yarder against the bar; a goal of the season contender had it been a few inches lower.

Early in the second half, left wing–back Cammy Thomson headed over when he might have done better but it was a more even contest now.

Queen’s Park had some decent spells of possession and there was the odd anxious moment but Stirling defended stoutly and keeper Calum Ferrie didn’t have any big saves to make.
