Charitylooking forvolunteers

More volunteers are needed to help run one of Stirling’s best-known charities.

Council on Disability is an OSCR registered charity which has been in the city for more than 25 years.

It is run by a team of dedicated volunteers whose aim is to seek the best quality of life for those with disability in the Stirling Council area. From their Upper Craigs base, work for the volunteers includes accessing disability benefits for those with long term illnesses.

They also help people whose lives have changed due to sudden onset of illness restricting their mobility and /or preventing them from working. A CoD spokesperson said:“Our organisation provides a free service of information and support from initial claim through to tribunal representation.

“Currently we are seeking to recruit volunteers to continue with our work which last year yielded £2.5 million in benefits into our community, which goes some way to tackle isolation and poverty and restore dignity to those who are struggling to cope.

“Volunteers are needed to provide support to clients, also to join our committee to continue management of our work. Training and essential expenses are provided.”

If you feel you are able to contribute to this worthwhile work contact 01786 462178. Opening hours are 10am-3pm Monday to Friday.
