Have a very vegan Christmas

Plenty of products available for a special festive season

-

Veganism is on the rise.

You may very well know someone who is vegan or who has recently become one. But what does being vegan mean?

It is very simple really; a vegan diet contains no animal products whatsoever, so not only meat and fish are excluded, but also no eggs, honey and milk and any other products derived from an animal, like leather.

Products tested on animals are not allowed.

But there’s no need to despair if you are cooking a vegan Christmas dinner this year, because the choice of vegan products available is greater than ever before.

There are vegan chocolate advent calendars and selection boxes, vegan Turkish delight and even vegan panettone out there.

If you want to cook from scratch, websites like the Vegan Society or Stirling Health Food Store offer a selection of simple, seasonal and vegan recipes and you’ll find more details on how to cook vegan there.

But being vegan doesn’t stop at not eating animal products. Some skincare brands use lanolin (made from sheep’s wool) or beeswax in their products which makes them unsuitable for vegans.

Again, you don’t need to worry as there are many Christmas gifts which are vegan friendly.

Check products for the ‘vegan sunflower’ logo which means it is vegan approved.
