Stirling Castle has begun its countdown to Christmas.

The festivities kick off at the popular tourist attraction as Historic Environment Scotland (HES) announced its Christmas event line–up.

The Christmas celebrations begin with the Christmas ceilidh and panto, Festive Frolics, on Sunday December 2. That’s followed by the Christmas Fayre, where shoppers can pick up unique Christmas gifts and local food and drink produce on Tuesday December 4.

There will be an evening of advent and Christmas delights on Thursday December 6 as Scottish medieval group, Canty, perform medieval carols and traditional seasonal songs at A Canty Christmas. This event will also feature the Scottish premiere of Joanna L’Estrange’s Gospel–style setting of a prayer by Jane Austin.

On Sunday December 9, visitors can enjoy Christmas carols performed by NYCOS Stirling Choir as Carols at the Castle returns to the Great Hall.

Starting on Saturday December 15 and running until Sunday December 23, Stirling Castle will host a range of Christmas lunches. Visitors looking to add festive magic to their Christmas lunch will dine from a three–course menu in the castle’s Green Room.

Liz Grant, Executive Manager at Stirling Castle, said:“We’re encouraging everyone to get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy some festive fun. From a shopping fayre and exclusive lunches to Christmas carols and panto, there’s something for everyone to make Christmas special.”
