Winter Fete SHS Community Partnership Annual Winter Fete and Food Festival takes place on Saturday, December 1, from 10am-2pm. This is a day for all our family and friends to come and enjoy an exciting range of food, see what our local area has to offer and to socialise. The school supports the Stirling Food Assembly, so several of the producers will be there, alongside our Community Cafe, with pupils performing musical entertainment as well as other sampling events. A small amount of our Stirling High School honey will be on sale with a few stalls run by families, crafts and artists too. Stalls for the event are available for the minimal flat fee of £10. Please email shsengagement@ gmail.com directly to organise a stall. Christmas Concert This year’s annual Christmas Concert will take place on Monday, December 17 in the Church of the Holy Rude at 7pm. The concert will feature various musical groups including the Stirling High School Choir, Orchestra and Rhythm and Soul Band. The music and great vocal performances were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Stevie Wonder and the Young Michael Jackson were a big hit, receiving the biggest applause from the young people. Ghost Tour On Wednesday night a number of our S3 and S6 pupils participated in a ghost tour in Edinburgh. We’ve not been able to agree if we actually saw any ghosts, but everyone had fun having a good scare! Boy’s Night Last Wednesday the boys of S1 and S2 were invited to attend St Modan’s Boys’ Night and to bring along dads, grandads, brothers and older male role models. This evening was one which follows on from the long-standing successful Boys Night of St Patrick’s Primary School in Denny and was one full of fun, challenge and entertainment. Over 50 attended the evening, organised for the second time by our Parent Teacher Partnership and were treated to activities ranging from archery to a ‘Bake-Off’ technical challenge. Teams were set up and challenges embraced whilst the boys competed against each other and their older role models. Some held ‘Great Balls of Fire’ in their own hands, thanks to our science teachers and others learned to ‘Be a DJ’ thanks to our new local partners Stirling City Radio. What a great night, designed to encourage

more dads and other male role models to engage with school. Headteacher Mr O’Neill said: “This was another brilliant night organised by our PTP. Huge thanks to the PTP members and staff who gave up their own time to support it and, of course to those who came along on the evening. We look forward to seeing them all again next session.” Sports News Marc Kilgannon (S3) played in the U15’s Regional Schools football game last Wednesday in the Scottish Cup against Lanarkshire. His team (Forth Valley Regional Team) won 4-2 and have qualified for the quarter finals. Well done Marc.
